SOME BASIC INTERNET CONCEPTS

URL:
Abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator, the global adress of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web.
The first part of the address is called a protocol identifier and it indicates what protocol to use, and the second part is called a resource name and it specifies the IP address or the domain name where the resource is located. The protocol identifier and the resource name are separated by a colon and two forward slashes.

Web editing: Web editing is basically entereing or modifying contents in a web page.

http: Short for HyperText Transfer Protocol, the underlying protocol used by the World Wide Web. HTTP defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions Web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands. For example, when you enter a URL in your browser, this actually sends an HTTP command to the Web server directing it to fetch and transmit the requested Web page.

www: Short for World Wide Web. A system of Internet server that support specially formatted documents.

html: Short for HyperText Markup Language, the authoring language used to create documents on the World Wide Web.

Web browser (examples): Internet Explorer, Firefox...

Web editor (examples): Notepad (included in Windows) and Kate (GNU/Linux).

Web server: A computer that delivers (serves up) Web pages. Every Web server has an I address and possibly a domain name. For example, if you enter the URL http://www.wikipedia.org/index.html in your browser, this sends a request to the server whose domain name is pcwebopedia.com. The server then fetches the page named index.html and sends it to your browser.
Any computer can be turned into a Web server by installing server software and connecting the machine to the Internet. There are many Web server software applications, including public domain software from NCSA and Apache, and commercial packages from Microsoft, Netscape and others.

Search engine (examples): Google, Yahoo... (LINKS: http://google.com, http://yahoo.com)

¡MY VACATIONS!

My vacations were quite pleasant in general...

I begun them with a one week trip to Italy. There I visited Venecia , Lake Como and Verona. Each place had it's beauties but were I enjoyed it more was in Lake Como were you could relax during Lake cruise while seeing som wonderful viewsl. Venecia an Verona were too crowded for my personal comodity but the canals, the buildings the statues, the luxurious hotels were all overwhelming.

The next week I stayed here and had some rest but soon later I was already on my way to Baqueira were I atended a basket cmp directed by DKV's coach, Sito Alonso (in the photo with Ricky Rubio). There I made some good friends and had some fun playing one of my favorites sports.

Last but not least I spende my last month of summer in my house in France and in Gerona. This 4 weeks have nothing remarkabl eto tell; they were basically beach, sun, eating...

APPLE UP, WINDOWS DOWN!!!

During the last several months Apple has improved it's share while Windows has lowered theirs. Apple's market share has risen month to month in seven of the last 11 months. It has changed from 7.48% in March 2008, to 9.63% in December of that year. Microsoft, on the other hand, has seen its share drop in seven months since March, when Windows had a 91.57% share to an 88.68% share in December.

In the browser market, Microsoft's Internet Explorer suffered a month-to-month decrease in January of sixth-tenths of a percent to 67.55%, according to Net Applications. Mozilla's Firefox, on the other hand, rose nearly two-tenths of a percent to 21.53%.

This shows how even though Apple is more expensive it is starting to improve in the market because consumers want quality and efficiency. It can maybe look as if john Asensi had inveted this information up but this is not the case. Quality will someday beat up quantity...

MY CHRISTMAS CARD

THE ASB CYCLONE

Last Monday at ASB we had a different schedule. Certain event that happened throughout the weekend made our next day much more interesting. The cyclone that hit the peninsula that weekend had some positive and many negative effects on Spain. Many people were injured and four youngsters died at a sports center at Sant Boi. If we talk about the American School of Bilbao the events were much less dramatical. On Monaday we had no light nor elctricity and the classes were suspended that day. It was cold in the classrooms but the real reason for our leaving was a minimum security alert. Some of the school's celling were damaged or torn apart and they had to check their conditions. Well I think for us this experience was positive because we had an extra day to rest and relax in our homes...
